An 11 year study was released last month that revealed elevated mercury levels in several bird species found in the Northeast. Our feathered friends were shown to have decreased reproductive rates and neurodegenerative symptoms, similar to symptoms that we find in humans burdened with mercury toxicity. The contamination of our environment and food supply is increasingly becoming a major factor in human health.
